Public School Bridge Program

Elementary Level (Age 7-12)

The elementary level students are in an intensive English environment in the morning. The afternoons the students will enjoy less formal classroom activities. "English only policy" is enforced in class and during activities.

Public School Bridge Program bridges the gap between language studies overseas and the Canadian classroom. Students are taught the essential English language skills they will need to succeed in a Canadian elementary or high school classroom.

By providing a general overview of the subjects they will encounter in a Canadian classroom while providing intensive language instruction, the Bridge program gives students ahead start that makes their transition to public school easier and more successful.

To become proficient in the use of a second language takes time. Studying language in “bits and pieces” is not an effective way to learn. Students enjoy the full range of an integrative language educational program. They are taught speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills, as well as pronunciation vocabulary, grammar. Our curriculum also introduces students to Canadian culture, history, geography, and basic science. Students also learn how to work in groups, do presentations, cooperate with their classmates, and develop their creativity.

The Public School Bridge Program enables students to:

  • Improve their English skills and learn to communicate fluently in English both at school and in the community
  • Acquire the English needed to make academic progress within the Canadian school system
  • Reach their potential both as students and as creative individuals
  • Experience and affirm a sense of self-worth through a development of pride in their heritage
