We get a lot of emails from students asking if they need a Visa or what kind of Visa they need. We can give general answers but because
Visa regulations are determined by a department of the Canadian government called Immigration Canada and these regulations often change, the best thing to do is to always check with the nearest Canadian Embassy or Consulate. The information they give will be up to date and accurate.
Here is an up to date list of the countries whose citizens need a Visa to visit Canada:

Note about trips to the USA
If you plan to enter the USA while you are studying in Canada, you may need a seperate USA Visa. (Some students like to take a trip to Seattle which is 2.5 hours away from Vancouver). For most students this must be organized before you come to Canada. Students from Western European Countries & Japan do not have to arrange for a USA Visa in advance, as you can get one from USA Immigration at the border.
